KC Royals: Eric Hosmer Five Biggest Moments
By Scott Dillon
Second: 2014 AL Wild Card Game: One Out Triple
The Royals night seemed pretty much over at this point. They had already staged an unbelievable comeback to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth when Jarrod Dyson showed ‘what speed do’.
Former Royal Alberto Callaspo slapped a single into left field that put the A’s back on top in the top of the 12th inning. They looked to spoil the late inning heroics of a scrappy Royals team.
With one out and the Royals looking for more magic, Eric Hosmer stepped up to the plate:
Eric Hosmer breathed life back into nearly everyone in the ballpark with this triple. There was one gentleman who was exhausted from all of the excitement and just couldn’t say awake or he couldn’t bear to watch.
This play helped set up Eric Hosmer’s first highlight on this list that saw him score the game tying run. Personally, I probably woke up the whole neighborhood yelling at Hosmer to run faster through the television.
This may have been one of the biggest clutch hits of Eric Hosmer’s career, at least in the postseason. While he’s had walk-offs and bigger hits than this one in the regular season, everything is magnified in the postseason.
