Fourth: 2015 World Series Game One: Walk Off Sac-Fly

If ever there was a player who needed a shot at redemption is was Eric Hosmer in game one of the 2015 World Series. He had made a costly error late in the game that could have drastically changed the outcome of the World Series.

This play could’ve haunted Hosmer for the rest of his career. Before the inning was even over, comparisons to Billy Buckner started being made. He also became infamous against the Mets with a blunder at first base.

But the Royals did what they do best. They picked each other up and all was forgiven when Alex Gordon did this:

The crowd erupted but there was no one in that stadium more happy to see that play than Eric Hosmer. He had been rescued but still had a shot at redemption.

In the 14th inning, Eric Hosmer would get his shot with the bases loaded. It wouldn’t be Royals’ baseball without a little drama:

As Hosmer walked down the line, and flipped his bat, he was able to remove a huge weight off of his shoulders. If he hadn’t gotten a chance to redeem himself, who knows how the rest of the series could have gone for the Royals’ first baseman. Luckily, no one will ever have to find out.
