The Good: Signing Mitchell Schwartz

The Kansas City Chiefs needed an offensive lineman this offseason and they got one of the best in the league in Mitchell Schwartz. Schwartz, a right tackle with the Cleveland Browns, was a completely random signing for Kansas City, but man was it a good one!

The Chiefs got Schwartz on a five-year deal and it was all because of Mitch’s brother Geoff. Geoff Schwartz played for the Chiefs for a few seasons and gave his brother rave reviews of the organizations.

Schwartz joining the team means that both tackle spots will be locked up (one by Schwartz, the other by Eric Fisher). The Chiefs did part ways with Ben Grubbs on Thursday, so they still need some guards, but this was a fantastic signing by John Dorsey.

Going out and getting one of the best tackles in free agency is basically a guaranteed passing grade in my book. Schwartz won’t make all the difference in Kansas City, but he will make a big one. He’s been one of the only guys to completely OWN Von Miller, and now he’ll get to square off against him twice a year.

I imagine the Miller stat was another reason why Schwartz was wanted in Kansas City.

Now all Dorsey needs to do is sign the other Schwartz brother, and the Chiefs offensive line will be in business.
