KC Royals: Getting To Know Veteran Infielder Clint Barmes
By Scott Dillon
“I’ll wrap it up here because I know you’ve got a lot of things going on. Let’s end on a fun topic. A couple weeks ago, we wrote an article about what everyone’s walk up music should be. What’s your best walk-up song?”
"“Well for me on a personal level, I enjoy Journey. I love 80’s music. ‘Don’t Stop Believing’. I used that in Pittsburgh. That was pretty neat to me. I didn’t want to come out with the verse ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, so I started it at the beginning. It’s really neat that when they stopped playing the song, the crowd would continue to sing. So as the pitcher was winding up the crowd was singling along. That was always pretty cool for me.”"
“That’s a great story and I think that’s a song that everybody in Kansas City can appreciate given the events of the last couple of years. That being said I think I’ve taken up enough of your time. I certainly appreciate you taking time out of your day to take my phone call and answering some of my questions.”
Clint Barmes taking time out of his day to talk with me is just another example of the type of players the KC Royals try to bring in. There was no reason he had to spend that time discussing baseball when he could have been working on his game or spending time with family.
It’s those qualities that have made all of the Royals’ players so popular over the past couple of seasons. Their dedication to the fans and the team is inspiring and it’s great to see that they’re continuing that tradition.
As Clint Barmes competes for a spot on the roster, I wish him nothing but the best of luck in the rest of his career.
