Jaye Howard

Despite talks that Jaye Howard could stay in Kansas City, I just don’t see it happening. The Chiefs had a chance to try and keep him, but opted to use the franchise tag on Eric Berry instead.

  • Howard is a young emerging talent that a lot of teams would pay big bucks for. He’ll likely be paid as such too, and with the Chiefs being limited financially, I would expect them to be outbid for the services of Howard.

"“I would love to stay in Kansas City, but I’m open to going anywhere that’s going to allow me the opportunity to continue my success,” Howard said. “Kansas City became home for me and my family. Me and my wife and two boys, they embraced it. I love the fans there, I love the organization, the front-office staff is great, and I’m surrounded by great players and I would love to be there. – Howard; Quote courtesy of Terez A. Paylor from The Kansas City Star"

During his time in Kansas City, Howard had 69 tackles and six and a half sacks. The Chiefs got him for a bargain when he was cut from the Seahawks in 2012, and Howard didn’t disappoint.

The defensive line of Howard, Allen Bailey, and Dontari Poe was terrifying last season, but the Chiefs made their choice when they re-signed Bailey midway through the 2014 season. It was a great signing, but at the same time, it now means that Howard is likely on his way out.

It sucks, but hey… The NFL is a business.
