Two: Moustakas hits two-bagger, from two-hole, in game two. Locked up the second spot in the lineup.

No overreactions in this tweet. It’s just a simple explanation of what happened. It’s too bad the ball didn’t two-hop the fence but this one is still too fun not to play with.

One of the big question marks for the Royals this off-season has been trying to figure out who is going to bat second for the Royals. Ned Yost has already stated it would likely be Moustakas but there is still a lot of baseball to be played.

Mike Moustakas has hit doubles in each of his first at-bats so far this Spring. He’s hit both of his two-baggers from the two-hole and that has to be some kind of sign, right?

He’s on pace to hit 30 doubles this spring if he plays in every game. That’s also got to mean he can hit at least 130 doubles during the regular season. If he can just bang out a double in his first at-bat each night, the Royals will be just fine.

That’s obviously an unrealistic number. It’s like projecting any hitter who homers on opening day to hit 162 home runs.

Not only does Moustakas have two doubles, his two hits lead all Royals’ hitters. He also hit this double to center field, so that busts any thoughts that he may be back to being a pull hitter.
