Fantasy Baseball: Top Sleepers For 2016 At Each Position
By Scott Dillon
The MLB season is right around the corner, fantasy baseball drafts are going to start taking shape. See what players could be available late in the draft.
Last year, players like Stephen Vogt, Chris Colabello, and Ryan Rayburn were projected to have less than stellar seasons. They all provided plenty of value for their owners both fictionally and in real life.
Every season, there are going to be players that fall to the end of draft. They’ll sit idly by waiting to join their fantasy team as All-Stars like Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, and Clayton Kershaw get drafted.
Round by round, these valuable but under appreciated players wait to see their name called. Just like the Royals have done in the past couple of seasons, these players blow their projections out of the water and take their team by storm.
These players are known widely as ‘sleepers’ in the fantasy sports community. Being able to correctly snag a sleeper is both rewarding and justifying.
Tim Heaney of USA Today defines a ‘sleeper’ as the following:
"Fantasy baseball sleepers come in many different forms. Whether they’re taken in the early, middle or late rounds of fantasy baseball drafts, they’re the players that are primed to outperform their market price."
Using the fantasy rankings for Roto leagues from ESPN, this list will pick one player per position that’s potentially ranked a little bit too low.
