KC Chiefs Make Shocking Pick Early In 2016 NFL Mock Draft
Round 6 – Pick 28: Avery Young, Offensive Tackle (Auburn)
The Kansas City Chiefs add another offensive lineman in the sixth round of the draft and their selection is Avery Young out of Auburn. Young was moved around frequently during his four years at Auburn, and that experience will benefit him greatly in the draft.
The Chiefs have a lot of questions regarding their offensive line. On the left side, Eric Fisher is penciled in at left tackle, Ben Grubbs had an injury filled season last year, but he’s expected to be the starter at left guard.
The Chiefs have spent some of their late-round picks on offensive linemen and could use some more depth along the line.
Obviously Mitch Morse has the starting center job locked down, but the right side is a bit of a mess. It would be wise for the Chiefs to draft a player like Avery Young, who has experience at just about every position along the offensive line.
Young spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at right tackle, which is a spot of need for the Chiefs. He also rotated between left guard and right guard throughout his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.
The Chiefs have spent some of their late-round picks on offensive linemen (Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Zach Fulton to name a few) and could use some more depth along the line. This pick allows them to have a guy who can fill in at almost any spot on the line and is super versatile.
