Round 5 – Pick 23: Cole Toner, Offensive Tackle (Harvard)

The Chiefs draft themselves a smart guy in the fifth round and they so do with Cole Toner out of Harvard.

Despite playing at Harvard, Toner is considered a top 15 tackle prospect, and he would greatly fill a need for the Kansas City Chiefs. The offensive line has been quite the mess the past two seasons, and Toner could provide depth.

Cole Toner fits the size of a stereotypical NFL offensive lineman and he started almost every game of his college career.

Toner played right tackle at Harvard, which is one of the areas up for discussion right now. Eric Fisher played left tackle last season, but many think putting him at right tackle might be best. Donald Stephenson and Jah Reid swapped time at right tackle last year, and while Reid will likely win the job for 2016, Toner could sit and learn.

Last season, there was one game in which the Chiefs were very close to having to put tight ends or defensive players on their offensive line due to the amount of injuries. This is a sign that the KC Chiefs need to bring in more offensive linemen, even if they are younger guys.
