Round 3 – Pick 28: Maliek Collins, Defensive Tackle (Nebraska)

The third round also sees the Kansas City Chiefs selecting a defensive tackle, but this time it’s Maliek Collins out of the University of Nebraska.

Collins, a junior, is foregoing his senior season and entering the 2016 NFL Draft. This might be a good move for the Cornhusker, as he actually saw more success during his sophomore year. His sophomore year (2014) saw him rack up four and a half sacks to his two and a half sacks this past season.

Day and Collins add depth to the Chiefs’ already dynamic defense. This is a team that’s been known to have one of the best defenses in the NFL the past two years, and they’ll continue to build on that in 2016.

Collins probably wouldn’t be an immediate starter, but with the increasing amount of injuries in the NFL, it doesn’t hurt to stack up your defense as much as possible.

This might not be the flashiest of picks, especially considering the Chiefs just took a defensive tackle one round prior, but Maliek Collins will help the Chiefs down the road.
