KC Royals: Top Ten Web Gems 2015 Regular Season
By Scott Dillon
Number 4: Gordo Crashes The Party
Reds at Royals, May 20th
The Royals pitching staff was in a pretty good run on May 20th. This was the third straight game in a run of four games that didn’t see the starting pitchers allow a run.
The staff as a whole only allowed one run in a four game stretch posting three shutouts in a four day stretch.
Jeremy Guthrie had to wiggle his way out of trouble on a few different occasions to keep that streak intact, but he managed to keep his team in the game and earn a victory. Plays like this one are part of the reason why.
Alex Gordon and the left-field fence have gotten to know each other pretty well over the years. In 2014 he made a catch at the wall an casually stuck his glove up in the air to show the out.
A couple years ago, he looked unconscious before blowing a bubble with his gum to let everyone know he was alright.
This time around, he made the catch that counted but struggled to hold onto his hat. Perhaps more impressively, he got Wade Davis to smile.
