Kyle Zimmer: Steamer Projection – Six Starts

Alright, everyone keep your fingers crossed and wish upon a star on this one. Kyle Zimmer is projected to make some starts for the big team this season, but it’s not the first time he’s been expected to debut.

Zimmer was expected to debut in 2013 and then again in 2014 but was shut down with either bone spurs or biceps’ tendinitis each time. Then he had shoulder surgery which saw him miss a portion of the 2015 season and further delayed his promising debut.

Zimmer is only 25 years old so he still has plenty of time to have a solid career for the Royals. If he can stay healthy, it would be nice to see him start to have an impact this season.

If Zimmer can start six games for the Royals in 2016 and escape the season with no injuries, it may not do much for the team this year, but it gives the Royals some hope for the future.

Zimmer and Ventura make for an intriguing one-two punch at the top of the rotation with either of them being considered ‘front-line’ material. If he makes his debut, it will give Royals’ fans a chance to see what they’ve been waiting for all of this time.

Zimmer has a good fastball and his curve ball devastates hitters with a lot of movement. He’s capable of striking out a batter or more per inning, but is he capable of staying off the disabled list?
