Dillon Gee: RotoWorld Projection – 16 Starts

Dillon Gee didn’t have a good outlook according to steamer projections, but he’s still a candidate to make the rotation.

Steamer projections had Gee slated to make a whopping zero starts for the Royals, but they did have him making one appearance. Rotoworld, on the other hand, had Dillon Gee making 16 starts for the Kansas City Royals.

If Dillon Gee puts up 16 starts for the Royals it may prove to be another savvy move by Dayton Moore. Dillon Gee is currently attending Spring Training as a non-roster invitee with a Minor League deal.

Gee has a condition in his deal that allows him to walk if he’s not assigned to the Major League roster by March 15th which doesn’t get him very far into camp.

With Gee looking to make a comeback and earn a long-term contract, it may be in his best interest to stick it out and try and catch a roster spot by the end of Spring Training. He’s not coming off a very good season so he needs a chance to pitch and they Royals are his best shot.

If Gee comes out and puts up similar numbers to his 2013 campaign, he could turn into a steal for the Royals. In 2013, Gee posted an ERA of 3.62 across 199 innings of work. His FIP of 4.00 shows that he may not have pitched as well as his ERA indicated, but the Royals are used to that having Chris Young on the roster.
