Tim Collins

Tim Collins is one of the shortest players in the Major Leagues. He stands just 5’7″ tall but that doesn’t stop him from being an effective reliever.

In his career, Collins owns a 3.54 ERA and strikes out more than one batter per inning. His best season came in 2012 when he struck out 93 batters in just under 70 innings of work.

He struggled in 2014 pitching only 21 innings in the Majors that season and missed all of 2015 after undergoing Tommy John‘s surgery. Hopefully, he’ll return to 2012 form in 2016 and give the Royals some much needed left-handed pitching.

If Collins does have a downfall, it’s his walk rate. His career walk rate is 5.2 BB/9 which is far from stellar. If he can cut down his walks and maintain his high strikeout percentage, he could be another dominant bullpen piece for the Royals.

Taking none of his ability into consideration, Collins’ walk-out song is “I Wish” by Skee Lo.

This one is a little too obvious, but too fitting to exclude. The lyrics “I wish I was a little bit taller” have probably spoken to Collins at some point in his life, but he’s proven that he doesn’t need to be taller. He just needs to be healthy.
