Jermaine Kearse, Wide Receiver (Seattle)

Coming off a breakthrough season, former Seahawk Jermaine Kearse will be looking for a payday next month (that’s if he makes it to free agency). It would be difficult seeing the wide receiver not being re-signed to a large contract by his current team, Seattle.

If Seattle doesn’t re-sign Kearse, the Chiefs should take a serious look at Kearse. He is a receiver with reliable hands that would be able to be another threat across from Jeremy Maclin. His route running skills would make him another reliable weapon for quarterback Alex Smith, in addition to taking pressure off of other play makers like Jamaal Charles, and Travis Kelce.

Jermaine Kearse has shown that he can perform under pressure, and produce when the game is on the line. That is a trait that the Chiefs could use more off, especially at the receiver position.

Kearse has been a reliable receiver for quarterback Russell Wilson throughout the 2015 season. After running back Marshawn Lynch left due to injury Kearse was depended on a lot to help the Seahawks win games.

He would be able to be a very good slot receiver in Kansas City’s system. The Chiefs like the short passes that allow the receivers to get the extra yards, and have the potential to break a big play. Last season Kearse had 49 catches for 485 yards and 5 touchdowns.

As nice as it would be to add another weapon for Alex Smith, there are needs in other places. It’s also worth noting that Kearse wants a big payday, but I don’t think that he is a receiver worth overpaying for.
