With NFL free agency starting March 9th, it’s time to start looking at potential fits for the Kansas City Chiefs. There are five players who fit into the system of Kansas City, and are also going to help give the extra push to make this an even better season than 2015.

Eric Weddle, Safety (San Diego)

The Chiefs could potentially lose Eric Berry to free agency, so Eric Weddle may be a perfect fit for the Kansas City Chiefs. Weddle will be turning 31 years old, so age may be playing a factor, but he brings a physical presence that would be welcomed in the Chiefs lineup.

Eric Weddle, due to injury, was held out of three games. That brings his durability into question. He would be a perfect person to sign to a one or two-year contract. In that time, the Chiefs could draft a safety and groom them to replace Weddle when he leaves.

Weddle has had 19 interceptions while with the Chargers, and could be a huge veteran presence in the secondary for the Chiefs.

The positive is that he would bring another veteran presence on the defense that may be losing a lot of leaders in the offseason. It is possible that Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, and Eric Berry could all be heading to new teams in the off-season.

That makes signing Weddle even more of a possibility. It would be nice to see the hard hitting safety in a Chiefs jersey.
