Alcides Escobar has become known for swinging at the first pitch. He inspires so much confidence in his team by doing this, that they believe they’ll win if he swings at the first pitch.
Maybe that’s all there is to it. If his free swinging tendency inspires confidence in the rest of the team, that may be the only explanation ‘Esky Magic’ requires.
Esky’s song is ‘Magic’ by B.O.B. The title kind of says it all. What Escobar does out of the top of the lineup is some kind of magic. Don’t try to figure it out. Just enjoy the trick for what it is.
In the song they say the line “Every time I touch that track it turns into gold”. Escobar may not touch any tracks, but it could be argued that every time he swings his bat it turns into gold.
