Round Three: Travis Kelce

Grade: A+

Travis Kelce is coming off one of the best weeks of his life. He’s already got a fancy new dating show, a shiny new contract, and two Pro Bowl touchdowns in the last five days. Why not give him a little bit more to be thankful for with an ‘A+’ grade?

Travis Kelce missed his entire rookie season with a knee ailment. Between Eric Fisher and Travis Kelce 2013 was looking like a bust already.

I threw out Kelce in a fantasy football auction draft for one dollar in 2014 and everyone in the room looked like I had just named a player in the Canadian Football League.

Everyone had heard about the promise that Kelce showed, but no one outside of Kansas City really knew anything about him. I threw out Kelce in a fantasy football auction draft for one dollar in 2014 and everyone in the room looked like I had just named a player in the Canadian Football League. Luckily, my gamble paid off big time as I not only got one of the premier tight ends in the league. I got to keep him this past year on the cheap.

Aside from fantasy value, Kelce has added some real world value to the Chiefs. In his two healthy seasons, Kelce has amassed over 1,700 yards receiving and caught ten touchdown passes.

While those aren’t quite Gronkowski numbers, it’s important to note that no wide receivers caught a touchdown pass for the Chiefs in 2014. Kelce did what they couldn’t do all season (find the end zone).

Travis Kelce is a huge play maker for the KC Chiefs. That’s one of the reasons they signed him to a contract extension. It’s a smart move for the Chiefs to lock him up now, because if he hit free agency he would be highly sought after.
