Kansas City Royals all-time wins leaders: 9. Al Fitzmorris (70 wins)

While he might not be the most memorable pitcher to don a Royals uniform, Al Fitzmorris cracks the top ten in most wins in team history, coming in at number ten.

Al Fitzmorris had a 70-48 record throughout eight years with the KC Royals and split time between the rotation and the bullpen. He became a full-time starter during the 1975 season, where he started 35 games and posted a 3.57 ERA in 242 innings pitched. He won a career-high 16 games that season.

So while he might not be the most recognizable name to some, let it be known that Al Fitzmorris shined bright during his time with the Royals.

His best season came in 1973 when he started in 13 games (pitched in 15 total) with a 2.83 ERA in 89 innings pitched.

Fitzmorris spent eight of his ten-year career with the Royals, but eventually moved onto Toronto and later to Cleveland. He started a total of 136 games and appeared in a total of 243. He moved from the rotation to bullpen to closer frequently and had a total of seven saves for the Royals.

He pitched four shutouts in the 1974 season and three in the 1975 season, both according to Baseball Reference. So while he might not be the most recognizable name to some, let it be known that Al Fitzmorris shined bright during his time with the Royals.

We’re now getting to the players who (mostly) had winning records with the Kansas City Royals, and to some of the best pitchers in franchise history.
