Kansas City Royals: Top 15 Pitchers in Wins All-Time
Kansas City Royals all-time wins leaders: 14. Bud Black (56 wins)
Despite having a losing record with the KC Royals (56-57), Bud Black comes in at number 14 on this list. Black pitched for the Royals for seven seasons (1982-1988) and finished his time as a Royal with a career ERA of 3.73.
While Bud Black was a member of the 1985 World Series champion team, he actually posted a losing record that season at 10-15 and an ERA of 4.33. Still though… Ten wins isn’t too shabby.
As for the postseason, Black only started one game during the ALCS in 1985 but appeared in three total with an ERA of 1.69 in 10.2 innings pitched. Black’s 85 ALCS playoff stats were his best postseason-wise. During the World Series, Black had an ERA of 5.06 and only started one game and appeared in two total.
He wasn’t the team’s best starter, but he spent seven years in Kansas City, which helped propel him in the wins category.
Black pitched with the Royals from 82-88 but left for the Cleveland Indians midway through the 1988 season after having a 4.91 ERA in only 17 games.
Black then went on to pitch for Indians, Blue Jays, and Giants and called it a career after the 1995 season.
