Kansas City Royals all-time wins leaders: 1. Paul Splittorff (166)

Now we come to the guy who had the most wins with the Kansas City Royals during their 45-year history, and it’s none other than Paul Splittorff. Splittorff has 22 more wins than the guy in second, which just goes to show the type of career he had with the Royals.

Paul Splittorff truly is Forever Royal and will always be remembered as one of the greatest of all time.

Splittorff was taken by the Royals in the first-ever amateur draft and went on to pitch for the team for 15 years, and never pitched for another team in the majors. He had 166 wins with the Royals and pitched in 2,554.2 innings. He started 392 games and pitched in 429 games total.

Splittorff appeared on number five on Kings of Kauffman’s list of greatest Royals pitchers and they said,

"During his playing days, Splittorff was known for his high leg kick, using that distinctive feature of his windup to help provide a manner of deception to his delivery. Later, following his playing career, he served as a broadcaster for the Royals, a role he had until his death in 2011 from throat cancer and melanoma."

Splittorff averaged 212 innings during his 15-year career and had a career ERA of 3.81. He only had an ERA under 3.00 only once in his career and only had six winning seasons during his 15-year career, but he was a reliable guy on the mound for the organization.

Sadly, Splittorff passed away in 2011 from cancer, but he will never be forgotten by KC Royals fans. He will always be remembered for his dominance on the mound and the competitive edge he brought with him in each and every game.
