Kansas City Chiefs: Way Too Early 2016 NFL Mock Draft
Round 5 – Pick 150: Kolby Listenbee (Wide Receiver, TCU)
Two rounds after taking a wide receiver, the KC Chiefs decide to add another one and they do so with Kolby Listenbee out of TCU. Listenbee was the best player available on the board in the fifth round, and the Chiefs decided to add yet another offensive weapon to their roster.
He’s not going to be a Pro Bowl caliber receiver, but for a fifth round pick, Kolby Listenbee could be quite the weapon for the Chiefs on offense.
While his stats won’t mesmerize anyone (30 receptions for 597 yards and five touchdowns in 2015), Listenbee wouldn’t be jumping into a starter role anytime soon. The Chiefs have Maclin, Wilson, and Conley to fight for those starting spots (and possibly Jason Avant as well) so Listenbee would likely be used as a special teams player in his first few seasons.
What’s impressive about Listenbee is his ability to run after a catch. He averaged 19 yards per catch, which is super impressive and just the kind of receiver the Chiefs would be wanting.
Smith is a fan of dumping the ball off to his nearest receiver and letting them fight for yardage. Listenbee has proven to be good at that. It’s like a match made in heaven.
