Number 4 Biggest Surprise Player for the Chiefs – Mitch Morse

When the Kansas City Chiefs selected Mitch Morse in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, fans were puzzled. Yes, the team needed an offensive lineman, but Morse was not projected to go until the third round at the earliest.

Morse ended up being a staple at the center position, and having a good, young center will really benefit the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line in the future.

The best news about Morse was his versatility along the offensive line and the fact that he was a local guy. Morse attended Missouri and jumped along the line throughout his four years there.

When he got to Kansas City, Morse competed with Eric Kush for the starting center job and eventually won the job. It seemed like a risky move for a team that had one of the worst offensive lines in the league in 2014, but Morse did a great job for the Chiefs.

This was huge for the Chiefs, as they had lost Rodney Hudson in free agency and it seemed bleak that they’d find someone half as good to fill his shoes. Morse did just that though.

He started 15 games and not only was one of the best centers in the league, but one of the best rookies as well. Morse ended up being a staple at the center position, and having a good, young center will really benefit the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line in the future.
