Number 8 Biggest Surprise Player for the Chiefs – Ron Parker

Last summer, the Chiefs gave Ron Parker a five-year contract extension, which some fans thought was beyond crazy. Here was a guy who really didn’t look that great in the cornerback position, but looked decent when he filled in at safety for Eric Berry in 2014.

He is a VERY underrated member of this team and of this defense.

Parker was permanently moved to the safety position for 2015 and continued to excel there. He recorded a career high three interceptions along with 12 defended passes and one forced fumble. Parker also had 67 tackles.

The safeties performed at a high level for the Chiefs this season, and Parker played a huge part in that. He’ll be with the Chiefs for several more seasons and the guy really could be considered a steal for this team.

It really is amazing how Parker struggled in the cornerback role, but has done a nice job at safety. He is a VERY underrated member of this team and of this defense.

With Eric Berry up for free agency (and Sean Smith as well), it’ll be even more important that Parker continue to show up big for the Chiefs on Sundays. He plays a huge role in the secondary and should continue to give opposing quarterbacks problem down the field.

Next: What a guy!
