Number 1 Biggest Surprise Player for the Chiefs – Marcus Peters

The biggest surprise player of the season for the KC Chiefs goes to none other than rookie Marcus Peters.

If Peters’ rookie season is a sign of what’s to come in the future, the Chiefs should be set at least one cornerback position for many seasons to come.

If you had told me after the Chiefs had taken Peters in the first round of the draft, that he’d be the team’s biggest surprise headed into 2015, I’d have laughed in your face. He was just that though, intercepting nine passes (including the postseason) in 18 games.

Peters was Kansas City’s first round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft (he was selected 18th overall), and the pick initially confused fans. The team could have really used a wideout or an offensive lineman, but instead they drafted a corner.

The other concerning area with Peters was his temper. The kid was kicked off his college team, which is never a good thing.

While Peters had an attitude on the field, it never got him thrown out of a game. If anything, it fueled the rest of the defense to play the best possible football they could play.

If Peters’ rookie season is a sign of what’s to come in the future, the Chiefs should be set at least one cornerback position for many seasons to come.
