Well there you have it. The KC Chiefs can go many different ways this season, but in my opinion, signing their own free agents will be the most important thing they do this off-season.

Signing an offensive lineman or two would go a long way to improve the offense as a whole and improving Alex Smith’s play moving forward. Adding a stud wide-out could be another way to really get him rolling because adding another big-time target to Kelce, Charles, and Maclin could be devastating for the opposition.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs HAVE to sign or draft a cornerback at some point. After Marcus Peters and Sean Smith, the Chiefs don’t have much to boast about at that position and adding a guy who can help fill the #3 corner, slot-corner, and nickel corner spots would make the pass defense just as formidable as the run defense is right now.

There are plenty of guys on the defensive side of the ball that may test free agency, so adding to what they already have in one of the best defenses in the NFL isn’t as much of a concern as getting those guys back. Headlined by Eric Berry and Derrick Johnson, the Chiefs’ defensive free agent class are stacked.

Next season should be an interesting one coming off of the franchises first playoff win in over 22 years should set expectations pretty high.
