Wade Davis

I already talked about the reasons why I thought Wade Davis shouldn’t be the closer. When the only reason is that you may be TOO good, there isn’t a lot of argument to made that he shouldn’t be the closer.

While there is only one reason Wade Davis shouldn’t be the closer in my mind, there are plenty of reasons why he should be.

Davis blew only one save in 18 opportunities last season. He also posted career bests in both WHIP, .787, and ERA, 0.94, finding a way to outdo what he had done in the 2014 season.

While he may only find his way into the game with a lead, or tied at home, a ‘save’ doesn’t get any more secure than when Wade Davis jogs to the mound. He’s so good that hitters look defeated before they step up to the plate. If Wade Davis is on the hill and you’re a Kansas City fan, there’s a good bet they’re about to hang a ‘W’ in the win column.

This job is Davis’ to lose as far as I’m concerned and it would be a huge surprise if anyone else took over the role of closer after what Davis did in 2015, but we have to have something to talk about until Spring Training right?
