The Chiefs’ playoff journey would begin in Houston, which happened to be the site of where they last won a playoff game, back in 1994.

Heading into the match-up, fans were nervous. The Chiefs had not seen a lot of postseason success and here was an opportunity for the team to shed the ‘playoff loser’ label and advance in the playoffs for the first time since the days of Montana, Allen, and Schottenheimer.

With the playoff loss streak finally ending at eight games and 22 years, the Chiefs were ready for the next task and were advancing in the next round for the first time in over two decades.

Squaring off against a 9-7 AFC South champion Texans team could prove to be a difficult task. The Texans had a good defense and had been winners of seven of their last nine games. It seemed entirely possible that Houston could knock off the winners of ten straight in the Chiefs.

Fortunately, the Chiefs were able to blank the Texans IN Houston and put up 30 points. They intercepted Brian Hoyer four times and also forced him to fumble the football. It was the first time a team had been shut out in the postseason since 2005 when the Panthers did it to the Giants.
