KC Royals: Ranking the 2015 Playoff Comebacks
By Scott Dillon
The 2015 KC Royals gave the fans one epic comeback after another, but which of those comebacks was the best?
The KC Royals made a habit of winning by way of a two-run (or more) comeback during the 2015 playoffs. The fans found themselves waiting until the late innings for a lead in seven of the eleven wins it took to bring home the crown. In the 2015 World Series, the Royals only held a lead in 13 of the 56 innings they played.
So just how good were the KC Royals at coming back from at least a two-run deficit? The truth is they weren’t good….They were historic. The Royals completed more of these wins than any other team in playoff history. They beat the previous record of five which was held by the 1996 Yankees.
I think it can be agreed upon that all of the games were good. Not one of these games didn’t have Royals fans going through a range of emotions, nor their opposition. Night after night, we watched Royals fans come alive late in the game while the opposing fans had their delight turned into misery.
The comebacks were full of memorable plays like Gordo’s iconic solo shot, Hosmer’s daring sprint towards home, and multiple booted baseballs. Let’s take a look at each of the 2015 comebacks and rank them from worst (is there really a worst?) to best.
