KC Chiefs News: Demetrius Harris and Injury News
KC Chiefs news from the last couple of days includes injury news from the Chiefs and the Patriots, re-signing Demitrius Harris, and more.
News from the last couple of days is headlined with Patriots’ receiver Julian Edelman will be back after missing 7 or 8 weeks due to injury. Edelman is arguably quarterback Tom Brady’s second favorite option after Rob Gronkowski who could very well be the best tight end of all time when his career comes to an end.
His presence will make a huge difference for Brady because without him in the lineup, the Patriots’ offense looks a bit stagnant. He brings great hands, good speed, and a play-making ability not matched by many players in the entire league. Since he likes to lineup in the slot a lot, look for Chiefs safety/slot-cornerback Ron Parker to matchup with him for the majority of the game unless Bob Sutton decides to put Marcus Peters on him, which may be a good idea.
KC Chiefs backup tight end Demetrius Harris was extended earlier in the week. He signed a 3-year deal that could get him up to $6.2 million. Harris has got a lot of penalties this year but also made a spectacular touchdown catch late in the season. He also brings pretty good size and is a solid special teams player. A pretty good signing in my opinion.
This game is going to be one for the ages because both teams have plenty of respect for one another and are probably the two best teams in the entire AFC right now.

Buckley: Chiefs low on hate meterSigning of TE Demetrius Harris is good move by Chiefs"In four postseason games, Alex Smith has completed 61 percent of his passes for an average of 266 yards with 10 touchdowns and 1 interception (which came last Saturday against the Texans). In his three years with the Chiefs, Smith has 5 postseason touchdowns, which is just 3 shy of the franchise record currently held by Hall of Famer Len Dawson, who had 7 touchdown passes in 8 career postseason games."
"Taking a closer look, he is worth the expenditure. Take a look at the touchdown catch Harris made in a recent game against the Oakland Raiders, when he stretched his 6-foot-7 frame and went up high to make the grab in the end zone. Take a look at the block he made to help spring Knile Davis for a touchdown on the opening kickoff in last week’s playoff win over the Houston Texans."
