Jeremy Guthrie: Hit

Jeremy Guthrie is a fan favorite. He has never pitched great for the Royals over the course of a full season, but at times has pitched brilliantly for them. Throw ERA out the window here, Jeremy Guthrie was a ‘hit’ for Dayton Moore.

Jeremy Guthrie pitched fairly well for Baltimore early in his career. He carried a sub 4.00 ERA in three of his seasons there in what is a fairly hitter friendly ball park. In 2012, Guthrie was traded to the Rockies and his ERA went through the roof. By the time he was traded to Kansas City, he was sporting a 6.35 ERA.

Try not to think too much about 2015 when remembering Jeremy Guthrie. He is a fan favorite. He loves the team and the team loves him.

Guthrie responded to the Royals the rest of 2012 by putting up a 3.16 ERA over his next 14 starts. While he hasn’t been able to replicate his early success as a Royal, Guthrie is very much a part of the winning culture that KC now enjoys. He was such a part of the winning culture that he was in charge of most of the post game celebrations.

Try not to think too much about 2015 when remembering Jeremy Guthrie. He is a fan favorite. He loves the team and the team loves him. He’s a leader in the clubhouse and a role model for young people to look up to. Jeremy Guthrie won a World Series game for the Royals in 2014 and was tasked with pitching game seven. The Royals didn’t win that game, but you don’t put a ‘miss’ in game seven of the World Series.
