KC Chiefs news from the last couple of days includes Jeremy Maclin injury news, looking forward to the Patriots, and more.

The KC Chiefs got their first playoff win in over 22 years on Saturday, beating the Houston Texans 30-0. The win was a big one for Chiefs’ fans, as they’ve been waiting for just one playoff win for that long. Now the KC Chiefs move on to the conference semi-finals to take on the New England Patriots and their quarterback Tom Brady.

The Pats are beat up, but with Brady and Belichick sitting at the helm, they always stand a chance. The Chiefs do stand a chance because they have so many injuries and they are playing so well right now, so don’t count them out just yet. That being said, I still have the Chiefs as the underdog at this point.

Chiefs’ star wide-out Jeremy Maclin has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain yesterday. This comes as a big sigh of relief for the Chiefs and their fans because Maclin has already had many knee injuries in his young career. Another significant one could have ended his career or at the very least had a big impact on it going forward.

It would be a shock to me if Maclin played against New England with the way he reacted to the injury the other day. Maclin is a tough guy so there is a possibility, but I’m sure the Chiefs’ front office want to be as cautious with him as possible. They normally are when it comes to injuries.

Here are some more news and notes from around the internet regarding the KC Chiefs:

Chiefs’ Jeremy Maclin ruled out with knee injury [Yahoo]

"Jeremy Maclin, in his first season with the Chiefs after signing as a free agent, suffered a right knee injury in the third quarter. He didn’t return to the game and an MRI is scheduled for Sunday. At the time of his injury, Maclin had three catches for 29 yards."

Patriots to host Chiefs on Saturday in playoff opener [Boston Globe]

"Last season, the Patriots were bludgeoned by the Chiefs, 41-14, in Week 4 on “Monday Night Football,” but the Patriots circled the wagons after the loss — Tom Brady’s status as the team’s starting quarterback was questioned — winning seven straight and 10 of 12 en route to their fourth Super Bowl title."

Belichick: Surging Chiefs Hard to Plan Against [ABC]

"“That was a pretty dominant performance by Kansas City,” Belichick told reporters on Sunday, a day after the Chiefs advanced by shutout to set up the second-round matchup. “We’re certainly going to have to prepare and coach the team a lot better than we did that night. So that’s what we’ll try to do.”"

Chiefs LB Justin Houston: “We’re trying to make history” [KC Chiefs.com]

"“Any time you can get to the quarterback and put pressure on him or make him uncomfortable in the pocket, you can create turnovers,” linebacker Justin Houston said after the game. “I think we did a good job, but the interior guys did a great job.”"
