The KC Chiefs will square off against the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon in what will be the Chiefs’ second playoff appearance in three years.

It’s good to be a sports fan in Kansas City.

For the first time ever, Kansas City prepares for a football playoff game in the same season that it’s baseball team went to the post season. It’s hard to believe that Kansas City is only 15 months removed from being a town without a playoff WIN in 20 years.

By the middle of October, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ season was all but lost. A 1-5 record was bad enough, but losing Jamaal Charles felt like salt in the wound.

Perhaps inspired by their baseball counterparts, the Chiefs decided there was no deficit too big to overcome and found their way to a ten game win streak that lands them in the playoffs. Kansas City looks to defy a common saying by proving that you CAN have your cake and eat it too. A win against the Texans would be a good start at proving this saying wrong.

Let’s take a look at five things that the Chiefs need to do in order to come out on the winning side of a playoff game. (All stats courtesy of ESPN.com)
