What are Christian Hackenberg’s strengths?

Simply put, Christian Hackenberg can sling the ball. Hackenberg has great arm strength, and can make the opposite hash throw in his sleep.

At 6’4 and 228lbs, he looks the part of a prototypical NFL quarterback too. Many quarterbacks this big are absolute statutes in the pocket, but not Hackenberg. He moves almost in a Roethlisbergerian manner in the pocket.

Hackenberg is aggressive, but not foolish. The fact that he took care of the ball fairly well despite poor offensive line play is a testament to his development.

On top of that, Hackenberg keeps his eyes down field after a rush, rather than immediately taking off. What also sets Hackenberg apart from the typical tall, strong-armed quarterback is his accuracy and ability to take care of the ball.

Hackenberg’s short accuracy can be impressive at times too. He’s a college quarterback, so he’ll misfire at times, but he makes some NFL throws in terms of fitting the ball into tight spots.

What’s more is that he does a good job at ball placement. Hackenberg is great at preventing his receiver from getting hit, or putting the ball out front to allow yards after the catch. Hackenberg has legitimate strengths, and is a fairly rare type of player.
