The Good: Getting on the board early

The stat on the previous page, which was mentioned during the ESPN broadcast, was that the Kansas State Wildcats were 28-2 since 2011 when scoring first. K-State got their fans excited early when Dimel ran in for six right off the bat.

It was important for this team to show that they could put up points early in the game, and that they could get into the end zone.

It was even bigger how the Wildcats got into the red zone. This was a defense that struggled to force turnovers all season long, but they picked off Brandon Allen on the Razorbacks’ first possession of the game.

That Elijah Lee pick gave the Wildcats momentum early on. Too bad the momentum didn’t stick around.

The fact that I really had to dig for a “Good” in this game isn’t a good sign. I could have went special teams here, as the Wildcats had over 100 yards on kick returns and Matthew McCrane went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts.

That’s something for sure.
