F. . ST. Kansas City Chiefs. SPECIAL TEAMS

What was going on with both teams’ special teams on Sunday?

In a season where the Chiefs special teams has been dominant, they must have decided to take a vacation on Sunday because… Just wow. They were some new kind of awful.

There was one really weird point after attempt where Dustin Colquitt took the snap and then basically Charlie Brown’ed Cairo Santos. He took the football and threw a weird pass that was nowhere near the end zone.

It was very unlike Colquitt to do something like that, and the analysts on TV didn’t really go into a lot of detail on what happened.

Special teams has been clutch for most of the season, especially behind Dustin Colquitt, but they struggled in Oakland.

Santos went on to miss a point after attempt on the Chiefs’ next touchdown in what made for a really weird day on special teams. Not to mention, Frankie Hammond fumbled on a punt return, but at least he recovered it.

Bob Costas said something interesting during the Sunday Night Football half time special, and that’s that the extra point hasn’t become just a bathroom break for people. It’s caused some excitement this season.

I just wish that “excitement” wasn’t happening to our Chiefs, but at least Santos isn’t the only one missing extra points. It’s been a league-wide occurrence.

Oakland struggled on special teams as well, as Sebastian Janikowski also missed an extra point and missed a field goal attempt.

Special teams has been clutch for most of the season, especially behind Dustin Colquitt, but they struggled in Oakland. I’m not sure if it was the bad field conditions or what, but man… Rough day in the Black Hole for the KC special teams unit.
