The Good: Alex Smith

How about Alex Smith on Sunday, folks?

Say what you will about the former San Francisco 49er and former first overall pick, but Smith led the charge for this team against the Bills. He was fantastic.

If Smith can keep playing the way he has been lately, this team could be really dangerous down the stretch.

Alex Smith ended the day going 19 of 30 for 255 yards and two touchdowns. He hasn’t thrown an interception since week three against Green Bay and is looking more comfortable in this offense each week.

I was harsh on Smith during this team’s losing streak, but I felt like I had my reasons. Lately though, Smith has been proving the naysayers wrong.

Along with his impressive passing stats, Smith also put up good stats with his legs. He ended the day with six carries for 35 yards with a long of 11. Two of Smith’s runs were for crucial first downs and really kept the momentum going for the offense.

Throw all of this in with the fact that the offensive line was down to the last few guys due to injuries, and it really shows the improvement Smith has made this season. He was only sacked once in this game, and threw the ball down the field. He and Maclin were making plays together all day long, and it was a beautiful sight to see.

If Smith can keep playing the way he has been lately, this team could be really dangerous down the stretch.
