Rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota out of Oregon University had the best game of his young NFL career last week against the poor New Orleans Saints defense.
He put up 40 total fantasy points in standard, 6-point passing touchdown leagues, in what turned to be a shootout and a Titans win as well. He threw for over 300 yards for only the second time in his career and also put up 4 passing touchdowns as well.
In Week 10, Mariota and the Titans take on one of the best defenses in the NFL, in the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers rank eighth in the NFL in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Nothing to scoff at.
I just can’t see the rookie being able to put up good numbers against one of the best defenses in the NFL, after he has already struggled against some good defenses in the Jets and Bills just a few weeks ago.
If you can, I would start someone else at quarterback this week. Consider Mariota a #2 quarterback option at best for Week 10.
