KC Chiefs: Rookie Report Cards At The Bye Week

What a gem this guy has been! Seriously though, Marcus Peters has been phenomenal for the KC Chiefs so far this season.
I’ll admit when Kansas City initially drafted him, I was confused. The Chiefs had a good secondary at the time and there were other positions that could have been addressed in the first round. Peters also had some attitude problems in college, which concerned me. I’ll gladly eat crow though because Peters has been terrific.
If Peters can continue to play as well as he has so far, this could be one of the best Chiefs draft picks in recent years.
Chiefs fans had a glimpse of how good this kid could be early on in the season when on the first defensive snap of the season, Peters picked off Brian Hoyer to put the Chiefs in the red zone against the Texans. The following week, Peters had a pick-six off of Peyton Manning in that crazy Thursday Night Football match-up against the Broncos.
Peters deserves an A this season because he’s been a breath of fresh air on a less than stellar defense. He has three interceptions and 11 defended passes, and has started all eight games so far this season.
Peters’ presence has been huge, as Sean Smith had to sit out the first three games and then Phillip Gaines was put on season ending injured reserve. If Peters can continue to play as well as he has so far, this could be one of the best Chiefs draft picks in recent years.
Next: Looking good
