One of the Wide Receivers Needs to Step Up
Mizzou’s leading receiver, Nate Brown, sits 30th in the SEC in receiving yards thus far this season. Some teams like Mississippi State have four receivers ranked higher than Brown in yards.
At least one of these guys needs to be getting open on at least 70% of the passing plays.
Not to mention, two tight ends rank higher than Brown in receiving yards, Hunter Henry from Arkansas and O.J. Howard from Alabama. I don’t care who is at quarterback, the wide receiving corps just doesn’t have any standouts.
In order for this team to make a bowl and have a shot at beating Mississippi State or Tennessee is a standout performance from a wideout.
Even Vanderbilt has a standout receiver in sophomore Trent Sherfield who ranks sixth in the SEC in receiving yards. Weather its Nate Brown, J’Mon Moore, or Wesley Leftwich, it doesn’t matter.
At least one of these guys needs to be getting open on at least 70% of the passing plays.
Next: Still a few weeks to go!
