Here’s what needs to be done in order to help Mizzou actually score a touchdown in a game:

Simplify Everything

With Maty Mauk being reinstated to the team earlier this week, Pinkel and Henson could just make the move to catch Mauk back up to where he was and install him back in the offense. Pinkel declined to comment on who will be the starter on November 5 against Mississippi State, but said he will address the starting quarterback question on Wednesday during the SEC Coaches’ Teleconference.

How about the offense scores a touchdown in this next game, then we can get more complicated.

Regardless of who’s the starter after the bye week, coordinator Josh Henson needs to simplify everything to the point where there are no throws over six yards, while running the ball at least 35 times.

Drew Lock should not, and can not, throw the ball more than 30 times a game. He’s completing less than 50 percent of his passes and he’s too young to be asked to throw the ball that many times a game. Plus, there isn’t a good enough receiver he can go to on any given play.

With a week and a half to prepare for a hot Bulldog team, Henson needs to be implementing tons of screens, slants, and curls. It worked against South Carolina, but for some reason Mizzou has elected to move away from the short stuff and get more complicated. How about the offense scores a touchdown in this next game, then we can get more complicated. Sound good?
