KC Royals: Times Sure Have Changed For Royals Fans

The KC Royals have spoiled their fans over the past two years, but it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows for Royals fans. In fact, many might say that being a Royals fan was a tough task.
The Kansas City Royals used to be a joke of a team.
After winning the World Series in 1985, the Royals dropped off the radar in Major League Baseball. They had losing records for nearly 18 straight years (only one of those went for a winning record) and lost over 100 games three years in a row.
One simply didn’t choose to be a Royals fan during that stretch because… Well, why would you? Why would you choose to root for a team that made losing a regular thing?
Personally, I was never a big baseball fan growing up. I preferred football and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were great in the 90s. The Royals were not.
Royals fans were typically uninterested in the season as soon as June was underway because yes, even that early on in the season, the Royals were usually already out of any type of playoff run.
Now a lot of Royals fans rose up after the incredible year the boys in blue had last year, and I think it’s great. It’s cool to see so many people embrace this team after years and years of suffering through bad baseball in Kansas City.
