Kansas Jayhawks Football: Top Sixteen All-Time in Rushing Yards
By Joel Wagler
Kansas Jayhawks All-Time Rushing Yards Leaders Number Ten: L.T. Levine
Before 2008, one of the best seasons in Kansas Jayhawks football history was 1995, which coincides with the senior campaign for L.T. Levine. KU went 10-2 that season and beat UCLA in the Aloha Bowl, 51-30.
The Jayhawks earned 29 victories while Levine was on campus, and the running back contributed a big part in this total.
- Rushing Yards – 2,248
- Carries – 422
- Rushing Touchdowns – 21
- Yards per Cary – 5.3
- Total Yards from Scrimmage – 2,442
- Total Touchdowns – 22
Levine exceeded the 800-yard mark in both his junior and senior seasons under head coach Glen Mason. He set the touchdown high as a junior, crossing the goal line 11 times that season.
His 6.3 yards per carry average during that 1994 campaign illustrates what a weapon he was for the Jayhawks.
Interestingly enough, only nine yards separate Jake Sharp at number eleven on this list, and Levine at number nine. There was also another big reason Levine didn’t finish higher on this list. We’ll get to that soon.
