Kansas Jayhawks Football: Top Sixteen All-Time in Rushing Yards
By Joel Wagler
Kansas Jayhawks All-Time Rushing Yards Leaders Number Five: Clark Green
The reason Jon Cornish had trouble getting on the field his first two seasons is because Mark Mangino and the Jayhawks already had a very productive back in Clark Green.
Green has a versatile back who played 48 games for the Jayhawks and finished fourth in Yards from Scrimmage in the Big 12 in 2003 with 1,432. He could catch the ball as well as he could run it, hauling in 122 catches in his career.
- Rushing Yards – 2,754
- Carries – 641
- Rushing Touchdowns – 13
- Yards per Cary – 4.3
- Total Yards from Scrimmage – 3,983
- Total Touchdowns – 17
One of the more odd statistics about Green’s career was the fact he had 641 carries, 122 receptions, threw six passes (completed two), and return four kicks, yet only scored 17 touchdowns. That means he only scored once for every 45 touches.
Still, Green was a workhorse all four seasons at Kansas and holds a very impressive position in this countdown, just ahead of two Hall of Famers.
