KC Royals: Five Reasons They Return To The World Series

The Kansas City Royals begin its postseason journey tonight. Here are five good reasons that journey leads to a second-straight World Series.
It was a 95-win regular season for the KC Royals, and that was just the half of it. Now it’s on to the American League Division Series and the Houston Astros.
The Royals will host the Astros who, like the Royals last season, won the second Wild Card spot to punch their postseason ticket. It will be a full four days off for Kansas City by the time first pitch rolls around tonight. The Royals finished the regular season in Minnesota on Sunday, while the Astros played in a one-game playoff with the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
Here are five reasons the Royals make it back to the Fall Classic:
5. September Flu Bug
This might not count for much, but the Royals enter the postseason winners of its last five games and 6-2 in its last eight.
After a dismal month of September when the Royals posted an 11-17 record, Kansas City is yet to lose in October. It was a long month of September for everyone involved, but it was great timing in the grand scheme.
Manager Ned Yost kept referring to his team’s struggles as similar to the flu, according to The Kansas City Star‘s Andy McCullough, and it now seems to have run its course.
