The KC Royals have clinched the American League Central, which means they’re headed to the playoffs for the second straight year.

While most fans are probably thinking World Series again this season, I’m not so sure. The KC Royals have looked like a good team for the duration of the year, but the last month has seen them slumping tremendously.

The month of September began with the Royals losing three straight series (swept by the White Sox, lost two of three to the Twins, and lost two of three to the Orioles). The Royals went nearly a month before winning another series (they won the series against the Seattle Mariners at Kauffman Stadium) and had looked off the past several weeks.

Look, it’s not that I don’t love the Royals. Obviously I do. It’s just that they haven’t looked like a World Series team as of lately, and with competition like the Blue Jays and Rangers getting hot, it’s tough to see the Royals making it past those guys.

Here are five reasons why I don’t think the Kansas City Royals are poised for another World Series appearance.
