Shortstop, Alcides Escobar

In 2012, Mike Bauman of MLB.com wrote that it “ought to be a question of when, not if,” Escobar wins a Gold Glove for his work at shortstop.

Well, it’s been three years, and we’re still waiting. J.J. Hardy took the prize in ’12, ’13, and ’14. Although Hardy once again leads the American League in DRS, UZR, and DEF, Escobar lurks closely behind in both UZR and DEF.

Having received more national attention due to the success of the Royals, as well as performing what seems like dozens of brilliant and seemingly impossible plays, Esky has a good shot at finally beating him out. (Source: MLB.com)

Will this be the year Esky can finally say that his car isn’t the only gold he owns? (Source: USA Today)

Chance of Winning: 60%
