October 12th, 2003 at Lambeau Field (Chiefs won 40-34 in overtime)

The 2003 season was a fun one for the Kansas City Chiefs that saw them go 13-3 in the regular season, only to lose in the divisional round of the playoffs in the infamous no punt game.

On the way there, the Chiefs played in some fun games including a mid October match up against the Brett Favre led Packers at Lambeau. The Chiefs were undefeated heading into week six of the regular season, and the Packers were just trying to stay relevant.

  • Green Bay went up 14-0 in the first quarter, but Trent Green hit Tony Gonzalez with a 26 yard touchdown pass to put the Chiefs on the board. The Chiefs actually didn’t lead in this game until, well… overtime where they ultimately won the game.

Kansas City did, however, come back down 31-14 in the third quarter. They were able to tie things up at 34 in the final second of the game on a Morten Anderson field goal and later won the game on a 51 yard pass from Trent Green to Eddie Kenison.

2003 was a great season for the Kansas City Chiefs, and fans haven’t really seen one like it since then.

The Packers also had a nice season, going 10-6, winning the NFC North and eventually losing in the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs to the Andy Reid-led Philadelphia Eagles.
