1) Andy Reid is highly questionable
From poor clock management to poor play calling, KC Chiefs fans have seen it all in Andy Reid’s three years in Kansas City. Thursday night was no exception, as Reid drew up some really puzzling plays at crucial times in the game.
Let’s start with the first offensive drive.
The Chiefs had ample opportunities to score big in the first half, but weren’t able to capitalize on any of them, keeping the Broncos in the game.
The Chiefs are at the two-yard line, and Reid calls three consecutive pass plays. This one is bewildering because he didn’t try to run the ball AT ALL. Not even a single time.
This is usually a no-brainer with Charles in the backfield, especially with the way he had been running against the defense on that first drive.
How about those trick plays in the red zone?
The Chiefs were sitting at about the 15 yard-line late in the second quarter, and a failed Jeremy Maclin pass attempt gave the Chiefs a third down, with the next play resulting in an interception. Not the most ideal result you want right there.
The Chiefs had ample opportunities to score big in the first half, but weren’t able to capitalize on any of them, keeping the Broncos in the game. This could have been a repeat of the Monday night game against New England last year, but instead had that reminiscent feeling of the second half against Indy in the playoffs.
