KC Chiefs: Areas To Improve On After Week Two

Red Zone Offense
This loss is due to the Chiefs’ red zone offense. The Chiefs turned it over TWICE in the red zone, and even just scoring one touchdown in one of those trips would have likely given Kansas City the victory in this one.
Yet another reason the Football Gods hate Kansas City.
If the red zone offense continues to play this poorly, then it could be a long season for the KC Chiefs. Fortunately, it’s still early enough in the season that they can correct these mistakes and not repeat them again.
I’ve mentioned the turnovers on an earlier slide, but let’s reiterate them here.
The first turnover came on the Chiefs’ first drive where they marched down the field and looked like they were about to take an early lead against the Broncos. Jamaal Charles, however, fumbled the ball in the red zone to give the Broncos a chance at taking the lead first.
The second turnover was when Alex Smith threw a bad pass right at Harris of the Broncos, and it was picked off. That one was late in the game and absolutely brutal.
The Chiefs were lucky to even make it in the red zone both of those times because the offense looked lost all night. You have to capitalize on red zone opportunities every time, even if it’s just a field goal. I can’t stress that enough.
